Dance Like A Mother

I thoroughly enjoyed performing at Salford Quays over the weekend with a group of baby wearing mamas to promote health, fitness and social fun for mothers. The performance was a result of months of practice at my local baby wearing dance class, where we meet on a weekly basis to learn some fun dance moves, have fun and go for a cheeky coffee and cake afterwards!

We danced to ‘Brave’ by Ella Henderson and followed it with an upbeat track ‘Dance you Outta my head’ by Cat Janice (a wonderful track written by Janice during her own cancer journey, she brought her experiences into her songs and shows such strength and resilience!)

We also raised over £3000 for Mummys Star, a charity committed to provide support and guidance for women and families facing cancer in and around pregnancy, birth, loss and beyond (https://www.mummysstar.org).

Did you know that every day, 2 women are diagnosed with cancer in and around pregnancy? I can imagine it must be such a bittersweet experience – coping with the joys of future parenthood and balancing that with the fears of cancer – treatment, tests, safety, delivery and the future.

Mummys Star provide support in may ways and also advocate for women and their families going through this difficult journey.
